Thank You To My Friends

As time goes on, you grow, and when that happens you gain a lot of things and lose a lot of things. One of those things are friendships. I often hear about a lot of people who lose connection with their friends as they begin to move on in life, but that hasn’t happened to me. The one thing that has changed, is that I’ve learnt friendship isn’t about seeing them every single day and talking to them every living moment of my life. It is about valuing the other person and knowing they’re by your side, no matter what. For all that they have taught me, for all that they have done to support me and for all that they have done to love me, I say thank you to my friends.

Thank you, to the friend who is always my zodiac sign twin. You always stand by my side throughout the good and the bad, crying with me when I cry and laughing with me when I laugh. If we begin to laugh, there’s no stopping us, especially when we both notice the same thing. I will never forget that moment in life, when you came outside of class and hugged me tight, and cried with me whilst I was being an emotional wreck. That hug anchored me through that day, and you’ve continuously been my anchor from thereon. For all the times you danced away with me to countless songs, for all the times you let me share your makeup craze and be my partner in crime, for all the times you were a detective with me and helped me crush on guys and for all the times you stood there to wipe my tears, I say thank you.

Thank you, to the friend who is the ‘P’ to my ‘BAP’. Regardless of the fact we never speak to each other when I’m away, we are like two magnets when I come back, and it always feels like we were never apart. The moments we share are always the funniest of them all, and you will always remain my encyclopedia for gossip, and I guarantee you one day I’ll make you admit I’m always a funny human being. For all the times you have sat there with me in class and let me vent relentlessly about pathetic people in my life, for all the times you have continuously teased me about guys I didn’t even like, for all the times you have given me the best advice regarding everything and everyone, and for all the times you have stood by me when it mattered, I say thank you.

Thank you, to the friend who I always call my conjoined twin. Even if it isn’t factually true, I would like to believe we are two souls who are meant to be. You are, after all, the sole reason I have friends, since you were the first one to invite me to hang out with you when I was alone in the library. You continuously amaze me with your kindness and pure heart, and seeing you happy, makes me happy, because you always believe in me, more than I ever do. For all the times you have been more excited for my exam results and achievements, for all the times you have forgiven me with my incompetence with English and taught me the right way to speak, for all the times you have walked home with me and made me smile each and every day and for always having my back in every single step I take in life, I say thank you.

Thank you, to the friend who is more like a mother to us all. You always take care of me, making sure I am well and remembering every little detail I tell you. Although I know you find compliments very hard to take, you are one of the most selfless person I know, always thinking of others and being considerate, and doing little things to make them happy. I won’t ever forget the countless moments you have been there for me. For all the times you have fed me with your food and cakes, for all the times you’ve accompanied me on my journeys home, for all the times you have been a kindhearted soul and for all the times you have been the mother I need, I say thank you.

Thank you to all four of you for teaching me what friendship is, for being the first ever friends I’ve had in life and for being inspirations, each in your own ways, and without you all, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I may not have many friends, but I have everything I need in these four beautiful women. For that, I say thank you.

Love,

The Girl With A Name x
